About Mary Coombs, LCSW

Thank you so much for visiting my website. I’m Mary, a psychotherapist serving the Central Valley of Northern California, San Joaquin County, and the surrounding areas. I offer high quality therapy in Lodi California, conveniently located near Stockton and Sacramento.
Serving Stockton for the last several years has been a privilege. Finding therapy in Stockton, CA can be a challenge, I know. As such, even when we needed to relocate our horses unexpectedly, it was important to me to stay near this community to provide much needed services.
The bulk of my personal practice focuses on equine-assisted therapy (psychotherapy that includes horses), as well as talk, art, and play-based therapy modalities.
I’m a trauma-informed therapist with nineteen years of experience in providing mental health care. I am also a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and seek to provide inclusive and individualized support to each person I serve.
My specializations include in trauma-informed interventions for those suffering from complex trauma, neglect and abuse, attachment trauma, sexual abuse, domestic violence, persecution and oppression, religious alienation, ritual abuse, survivors of combat or relocation trauma, and complex grief.
I am also experienced in therapy for those struggling with eating disorders, Borderline Personality Disorder, Dissociative Identity Disorder, Serious Mental Illnesses, Mood Disorders including depression and anxiety disorders, and those struggling with self-harm, suicidal thoughts, and questions of identity.
Neurodivergent clients are welcome. Please know that respect and self-determination are central to all my client’s well-being, and certainly for neurodivergent populations as well. My experience in this area includes over a decade of supporting many people with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Traumatic Brain Injuries in a wide variety of environments.

About Fiona Picchi, MSW

Hello, my name is Fiona and I’m excited to be offering services in the equine-assisted therapy program and online therapy programs. I’ve recently obtained my Masters of Social Work at Carroll College in Helena, MT and have been working with Mary Coombs, LCSW for about year, providing therapy in Stockton, CA and Lodi, CA.
I love working with animals in both mental health and service settings, it’s a passion of mine. I have experience in a range of animal and human facilitated mental health settings including the Helena chapter of Intermountain Therapy Animals (ITA) and Concord High School in California’s Mount Diablo Unified School District (MDUSD).
My therapeutic approach is trauma-informed and grounded in the biopsychosocial model, emphasizing client strengths and agency throughout the therapeutic and intervention process. I am most experienced in working with those struggling with mood disorders–such as depression and anxiety disorders–as well as grief and loss, trauma, self-harm, early stages of addiction, divorce, and self-identity. I also have experience working with neurodivergent populations and those struggling with eating disorders.
I am excited to offer therapy for children, teens, and adults – both online and in person. I would describe my therapy tone as gentle, compassionate, and flexible. I am also LGBTQI+ affirming and seek to create a safe place where all my clients are able to heal.
About Hannah Gilbert, ASW

Hi there, my name is Hannah Gilbert, ASW. I provide compassionate, client-centered support to individuals and families seeking a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment. I am able to offer online talk, art, somatic, and play-based therapies in California via telehealth. I also offer in-person therapy in Lodi, California.
I recently began my journey in the therapy field after completing my Advanced Standing Master of Social Work program through Grand Canyon University. My professional background includes experience in social work and child welfare settings, where I have supported children, families, and individuals through difficult life transitions, family challenges, and emotional stressors.
My therapeutic approach is rooted in empathy, collaboration, and trauma-informed care. I believe each person deserves to feel heard, respected, and empowered throughout the healing process. At this time I am open to working with most populations and age groups. I also have a strong interest in working with children, adolescents, and families. I am currently studying and working towards my certificate as a Registered Play Therapist. As such, I incorporate play-based interventions to support children in expressing emotions, building resilience, and strengthening relationships.
I strive to create an inclusive and welcoming space for clients from all backgrounds and experiences. I am an LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist and it is my goal to create culturally sensitive spaces for each individual, supporting them in developing the tools, confidence, and insight needed to move toward healing and personal growth.
I look forward to being part of each client’s journey and feel honored to support individuals and families as they take steps toward healing and positive change.

Our Practice
As therapists, it is of the upmost importance that our clients feel not only welcome, but seen, heard, and respected. Within each session, we commit to providing the highest quality of care, rooted in evidence-based psychotherapy and scientifically sound therapeutic methods. As part of this philosophy, we work as transparently as possible, and collaborate with you to help you meet your treatment goals.
As equine-assisted therapists, we incorporate movement and creative strategies into our practice whenever applicable. These methods have been shown to enhance the therapeutic experience and reduce mental health symptoms. For many, these techniques are more effective than engaging in talk therapy alone.
Mary has certified as an Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning. They have also received extensive training (but are not certified) in many therapy modalities such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Expressive Art Therapy, Seeking Safety, Motivational Interviewing, Client-Centered Therapy, Crisis Interventions, Trauma Focused-CBT, Play-Based Therapy, Family Therapy, Mind and Body Bridging, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Attachment Therapy for Complex Trauma, Object Relations, The Gottman Method for Couples Counseling, Internal Family Systems, and Collaborative Counseling.
Our practice is a safe, trauma-informed space located. We are proud to offer therapy in Stockton and Lodi, and to provide therapy to the bay area, Sacramento, and surrounding areas. Telehealth therapy in California, in general, is available.
